When we asked the Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra kids to help shape our vision for this year, they gave us a theme: Create music. Create hope.
Music is where they turn to feel human. To feel hopeful. To feel creative. So we have dived wholeheartedly into innovations to make group rehearsals and music production safe so that all the kids have to think about is creating. This is their space.
YSO programs span from beginner violin lessons in kindergarten up throughtwo levels of orchestra which challenge and stretch every musician through middle and high school. Innovations this year include new rehearsal space that gives us more room, new equipment to sanitize and monitor health, and even new masks and instrument covers designed just for our kids to incorporate the latest scientific studies on aerosol spread.
In the words of music director Dr. Harvey, "We just want the kids to feel human again." We know that can happen through music. And you can make it happen. Will you fund the equipment, the professional coaching, and the rehearsal space rental to give these kids the musical wings they need to fly through the rest of 2020?
